Los Angeles Lasik Healing

Filed under: los angeles lasik — Tags: , — admin @ 2:22 am

Many people who are planning to undergo lasik in Los Angeles want to know details about the healing process.

One of the main advantages to lasik surgery is that the healing time is relatively quick.  Most patients are totally healed after a couple of days.

Here is what is recommended by lasik surgeons for healing after the procedure:

1) Drink Plenty of Liquids to stay hydrated.

2) Don’t Strain Your Eyes by reading or even watching television.

3) Apply medicated eye drops to your eyes to keep them moinsturized.  You doctor may give you a prescription for this type of eye drop or may have a different recommendation for you.

4) Of course you will need to have a driver present to take you to the procedure and back to your home where you will recuperate.

5) Listen to the detailed instructions your eye doctor gives you and you should be fine.

How to Pay for Los Angeles Lasik

Filed under: los angeles lasik — Tags: , — admin @ 2:13 am

Does Los Angeles LASIK eye surgery cost vary by region?  It does tend to be more expensive around large cities like Los Angeles and New York because of the higher cost of living in such areas.

The surgeon’s level of skill and experience as well as reputation also tends to affect the price of laser eye surgery. Doctors who are highly sought-after, have big advertising budgets, and are well-known will charge more than their lesser-known counterparts, which is probably obvious to you.  You also want to avoid places that may be offering the lasik procedure for too little money–this place might not be up to par. Try to find a happy median, but always try to avoid “bargain” LASIK at all costs. You don’t want to sacrifice your vision in order to save a couple bucks.  Your health is worth the investment.

Will Los Angeles Lasik be covered by insurance? Unfortunately, most American insurance companies consider LASIK to be an unnecessary procedure for your ongoing health, which is a nice way of saying they won’t typically pay for it. Some student insurance and health plans, such as Aetna, have been known to cover the cost of LASIK in some situations.

Even if your insurance plan doesn’t cover the laser eye surgery procedure, there are still some steps you can take to offset your LASIK eye surgery costs. For example, see if your employer will partner with a vision center to get discounted rates for their employees, often they can secure a “group discount.” If your job offers a “flex” spending account, you can put money into it each month tax free so that you can use it to fund any medical procedure you may need.  If you can plan in advance, then this type of saving plan will help you out and it will lower your tax bill.

If need be, you can always talk to your vision care provider and your lasik surgeon about financing options to pay for the procedure over time.

Though most Americans have to pay for their own LASIK surgery, often the results are worth the expense. It is your health after all, so these types of decisions need to be carefully made.  Definitely do your research, consult numerous doctors, and really think about the pros and cons of the procedure.

Los Angeles Lasik Overview

If you have to wear contact lenses or glasses, then it’s possible you might be interested in Los Angeles LASIK. LASIK actually is short for a more complex term: Laser Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis. It is a type of eye surgery in which an eye surgeron reshapes the cornea in an attempt to improve a patient’s visual acuity. After successful LASIK eye surgery, many people achieve better vision and as a result no longer have to wear glasses or contact lenses.

LASIK surgery is a process that utilizes laser beams to reshape the corneal tissue without disturbing any of the nearby cells. A hinged corneal flap is created with a microkeratome blade or laser (IntraLase method) and after the underlying corneal tissue has been removed, the corneal flap is repositioned. The flap sticks to the underlying cornea naturally and the healing process is very quick. The procedure is painless because your LASIK surgeon puts anesthetic numbing eye drops to kill the pain. The process can be a little uncomfortable because your eyes will be kept open by a device so that the laser can be used unimpeded by closing eyelids.

Los Angeles Lasik Cost Can Vary Greatly

Filed under: los angeles lasik — Tags: , — admin @ 1:31 am

In Los Angeles, Lasik Surgery can vary greatly in cost.

The greater Los Angeles area is a very large swath of land with incredible variations in income, wealth, and community.  This being so, there are areas, such as Beverly Hills and Santa Monica, where Los Angeles Lasik will simply just cost more than in less wealthy areas like Fullerton and Torrance.

Especially when looking at health care, Angelenos from wealthier areas tend to believe that the more a surgeon charges and the location of his office means he will be a better, more qualified Lasik Surgeon.  Sometimes this may be the case, but often, in Los Angeles Lasik can be just as good but cheaper in areas that aren’t in the “hills” or on the “westside.”

Eye doctors in the beach cities like Hermosa and Manhattan Beach tend to have higher rents and expenses.  Furthermore, they tend to have the newest devices and technology, which actually may work in your favor because you expect a new machine to work better.  But Lasik in one of these areas of Los Angeles may possibly cost you more.

Generally, undergoing this procedure with a board certified eye surgeon will run you anywhere from $1,200 to $3,000 per eye.  A rule of thumb is that more affluent areas have higher health costs.  But you shouldn’t be discouraged to work with an eye doctor whom you trust and think will be able to give you the best service possible.  You eyes are extremely important and fragile, so take care of them.

I think it is just helpful to know that there are other options for you and that just because one doctor charges less for his services it doesn’t mean his or her service is inferior to someone who charges more.  The difference may only be geographical, not quality.

Just do your research, find the best doctor you can, and talk to them about all of the options you have for your vision care and correction needs.  This is how you will be able to make the right decision about lasik.

One of the things that people seem to really like about the Lasik procedure is how quick and relatively painless it can be.  Healing time is also very quick.  This makes Lasik Surgery attractive to many people who will actually be helped by the procedure.

Lasik Surgery Cost

In Los Angeles Lasik is a very popular procedure for people with minor vision problems. Lasik surgery costs seem to vary widely.

One doctor says that lasik eye surgery should typically cost between $1,000 and $6,000 depending on what exact procedure you undergo and where you get it.

He says to avoid the low cost places (which you would think would be obvious) because they don’t do as good a job with LASIK overall.

Your vision is not somewhere you want to be looking to cut costs, nor is any other aspect of your health.

The best thing to do is speak to several vision specialists and then decide what is the best course of action for you or your loved one.
